the creative process complete

Looking back at this post makes me smile. I blogged about Jari Love's latest bootcamp DVD a few months ago finding out days later the creative genius (other than Jari of course) behind it was in fact my then crush.

Over the past few days I've watched the following trailer come to fruition. It really is a very cool and very complicated process. I am so proud to see the final product, both of Jari because she has worked so hard over the years to make this incredible company that helps so many people successful and of course proud that my man brought this together. And I'll take some credit too because we all know that behind every great man is an equally great woman :)

Lessons to LIVE by

 1. Life isn’t always fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
6. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
7. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
8. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
9. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
10. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
11. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
13. Everything can change in the blink of an eye.
14. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
15. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
16. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
17. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
18. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
19. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
20. Over-prepare, then go with the flow.
21. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
22. The most important sex organ is the brain.
23. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
24. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
25. Always choose life.
26. Forgive everyone everything.
27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
28. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
30. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
31. Believe in miracles.
32. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
33. Growing old beats the alternative – dying young.
34. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
35. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
36. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
37. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
38. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
39. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
41. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
42. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
43. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

fulfilling my committment

I don't feel particularly inspired to blog today but I will post a picture, as promised. This is me and my boy twin in Hawaii. It is one of my favourites and I always get a smirk across my face when I look at it. I love it. So I'm adding it to blogsville.

getaway

I missed POTD yesterday. Oops. I think I had a pretty good reason though and to make up for a day missed I will provide a photo montage of that reason...

CASTLE MOUNTAIN!!!! OMG. OMFG (for you sister)... And any other equally awesome acronym can suit the hilarity/epicness of 'our adventures at Castle' - I think I'll title it - though I can't think of any other acronyms except for the two most obvious; my brain is hazy (and still in a state of academic hangover from staying up until 3:30 finishing a paper after a day of ripping, after a night of partying, after a day of paper writing).
So, my soul mate, and our soul friends took a much needed break from the chaoticism (that should be a word) that was M-F of last week. Dave and Renee had been to Castle but K2 were both newbies (I promise I will try never to refer to myself in the third person again). Anyways, this story could be a long one so I'll keep it short with point form, some parts may or may not make sense to the random reader but that's not my fault..
-Castle Mountain: nothing but a ski hill 50 km. off any main road. As such, nothing but ski bums to inhabit the spectrum of dwellings anywhere from rusty trailers to beautiful cabins, to the Holiday Inn type hostel, and probably a snow hut thrown in there somewhere too.
-The T-Bar: the 600 square foot bar that these inhabitants, be it 'locals' or passerby's, cause a mega ruckus. I am, and forever will be, in love with The T-Bar. The bell means free shots for all... free shots for all!
-Bachelorette parties were crashed, though I like to think we added to the flair of the evening.
-Ski poles doubled as swords that attacked unknowing margarine containers.
-Various fridges were explored in fine detail using said sword.
-Piggy backs ended in piles in the snow, more than once and more than twice.
-Heads hit the pillow past 4 to dream of the snow that would follow a few short hours later.

The riding was fabulous. We mixed the day up with some serious tree action at the top with fun cruiser blues half way up. Sometimes I couldn't tell whether a cliff was 1 foot in front of me or flat ground the light was FLAT at the top, but a few cautionary moves led to better and better light and SO MUCH FUN in the trees. I LOVE CASTLE!!!
FREAKING FUN.
OUR CREW.
What's going on behind that bag of "hot wings" Ruffles (????!) is anyone's guess
After we closed the bar down we went searching for a apres-bar trailer party. What we found was a gorgeous cottage filled with fun girls to hang with. Let the sunglass-off begin..
ROCKSTARS!
SOULMATE ROCKSTARS!
There was no way to know this at the time but this was some major foreshadowing of what was to come. Unfortunately, only I have the 6 minute video that captures the evidence and I have been sworn to secrecy by one, KMB.
Intact Margarine container.
SNOW DAY!!! Renee rocking out.
We laugh in the face of the "easy way" down.
EPIC WEEKEND. Thank you Castle :)

timeless

Day 3.. it's day 3 people and I just realized if I don't post this pic in the next 10 minutes I wouldn't have time.

For some reason this picture has been resonating in my consciousness for the last few days. Last night I just had to find it to make my background. So it seems natural to make it today's photo of the day. This is looking across the Grand Canal, across from the Rialto Vaporetto station on a summer's eve when all you need is light shawl for nothing but a bit of added comfort. Venice is truly one of the most stunning and unusual places I have ever visited. When I was there I wasn't sure if I'd return, but on reflection, I just know I have to..

TIME
I had a stimulating conversation recently, so recently I could almost still be having it, regarding time and how so many of us perceive our lack of it. It was one of those conversations when you leave realizing how silly it seems that we possibly couldn't have enough time. Ironically, not more than 12 hours after that talk, today, it would appear, I am one of those silly people.

There are 3 geographic locations to visit between now and 6pm in a 300km. radius, there are (new!) snowboarding boots to pick up, icy roads to navigate, a 10 page paper to conceptualize and write, lights to be held during a photo shoot (my important job), gear to pack for a weekend away, tunes to be enjoyed, dinner to be had with my favourite family, a kitty to be loved, roses to be smelled and coffee to be delighted in.. oh and throw in a 20 minute meditation session. So although there is no abundance of extra hours today to be spent taking new pictures for my 30 day photo challenge there are 12 hours and 38 minutes of March 25th that will be mindfully filled and thoroughly enjoyed to the max. Ah, the good life, life at my pace..

happy meow day

Three years ago yesterday a little critter came home from the SPCA to live with me. Marley Kitty was brought home to a bit of a controversial situation. Technically no furry creatures were allowed in the white carpeted rented home I was living in, something I can openly talk about as I'm 99.9% sure my old landlord doesn't know this blog exists (though he may have moved up to Alaska, in which case, he can now identify himself as the unknown creeper who dutifully checks my blog at the least once daily). Point being, I thought long and hard about whether it was a good idea to a) commit to owning a pet and b) bring a pet into an illegal situation. Since my Mom taught me well, I decided to laugh in the face of the law..

When I got home from work the first day Marley came home she was staring, absolutely terrified, at herself in the mirror from under the bed. It looked at though she was looking at a ghost. Quickly, she proved she was in fact a very adaptable cat and although she spent two years in the SPCA (I KNOW, 2 years is a lot...) she didn't have any long-lasting effects (PTSD or the like). She went back and forth (very often) from Vancouver to Victoria. Then she traveled trans-province home to Calgary and now spends her time between her three homes, one city home, one country home and one mountain home and adapts so well between each I can hardly believe it.

Three years in she comes more and more and more out of her shell. For the first year or so I would cherish the moments when she would come and lay on the couch close to me. Now, only very very recently, she has started jumping up as I'm working and curling up on my lap. Love. She converses all day long and changes her meows so much that I know she is trying to tell us all sorts of things. Mostly, she just seems so incredibly content and happy to hang around with her people.

You're the best kitty ever Marleykins!
